Second Son Branding & Web Design Case Study
Second Son Consulting Inc is an IT consulting firm based in California, providing custom IT solutions and support to SMB’s for over 15 years. The company approached us to refresh its existing brand identity and to create a completely new and modern web design.
Modernizing the brand while honoring its legacy
The goal for this project was to refresh the design and user experience for the Second Son’s branding & website while preserving the legacy the brand had built from over 15 years in business. We wanted to leverage the original logo and color schemes introduced while incorporating a modern layout that showed the brand in a confident, professional image.
The Strategy
Our strategy was to execute on four main factors:
- Leverage the use of white space and typography to invoke a more premium brand
- Refresh the brand’s color palette with a modern twist
- Make prioritized content for the user easier to find
- Make the brand more feel human
Again, this wasn’t your typical start-from-scratch project. We wanted to build upon the name and reputation Second Son Consulting Inc had built over their many years in business.
Proven Results
We started with a stylescape to dictate the direction of the visual identity. Enabling us to start by defining how fonts, color palettes, the imagery would be used to create a visual language for the Second Son website.
By giving the design a more modern layout the website no longer felt dated and now felt more premium like the companies and brands they worked with daily. We were able to use legacy assets like the company’s trademarked red hue, in a way that has visual interest and calls attention to the eye.
The format of the layout made sections of key information more scan-able to users looking to browse the entire page quickly. Images of happy staff members and CEO suite allow their customers to get a feel for the IT team they will be working with.
